Veronika Peat (b. Moscow) is an artist and filmmaker, living in the UK. Her practice draws on her experience as an immigrant to the UK and perspective as a woman artist. She explores themes of exile, displacement and identity in response to places and literary sources, and from personal and cultural memory.
She works through documentary encounter to engage with communities, individuals, places and the archive to excavate the singular and collective self – a process she terms ‘feral archaeology’. She employs a variety of creative strategies to build collaborations and transform actuality: drawing, printmaking, filmmaking and writing are all used to carry a sense of voice – of her participants, of her as the artist, of cultural memory and experience.
Veronika’s work has been exhibited in UK and international exhibitions and film festivals, including recently IFF Message to Man (Russia) and Towner Eastbourne (UK).
Veronika is a graduate from Slade School of Fine Art (MFA 2025) and the Royal Drawing School, London (2018). She teaches in Art and Design at the University of Westminster.
